Learning outcomes
The workshop intends to reflect upon the fundamental problems of historical research on contemporary age and to supply some methodological instruments for a critical attitude towards the past.
Program
Contents: Through a wide use of primary and secondary sources, the course will examine - also in a comparative perspective - some of the turning points of political, cultural and social history of the second post world war period, among which the subject of the relationships between continuity and breech in historical process, the strategies of the reorganization of the political power facing the challenges of the mass society during transition to democracy, the redefinition of civil balances during peace time, the formation of new public rethorics.
Teaching Methods: The course will be divided in three modules, each devoted to history of political culture and constitutional history, history of the organization of political elites, history of the organization of the State for the war.
