Learning outcomes

The course aims to outline the main phases of the history of the Russian People in the Nineteenth century, leading to the emergence of a new culture, the socialist one.

Program

Русская культура и литература на рубеже XIX и XX столетий.
Russian culture and literature between 19th and 20th century.
Through the analysis of literary texts and artistic events the course aims to identify those elements that bear witness to the slow but progressive building of the new Soviet -socialist way of life, whose complexity arouses still now research interests. Object of the analysis analyze, in addition to the literary ones listed in the bibliography, there are "Boris Godunov" by M. Mussorgsky, "Iz ulicy v ulicu" (1913) by Vl. Mayakovsky, "Burlap na Volge" (1873) by I. Repin, "Le sacre du Printemps" by I. Stravinsky, S. Diaghilev's "Ballets Russes".

Examination Methods

Oral examination aimed to evaluate the acquired skills and, in particular, critical and historical-cultural analysis skills. Possibility to submit an individual studying path within the traditional exam or to make a presentation within a seminar at the end of the course.
