Learning outcomes

Starting from a general introduction, the course will provide basic concepts of computer science and scientific calculus in Python.

Program

* Introduction to the Linux O.S. (file and proceses, filesystem, pipe, link, bash scripts)
* The Python 2.7 programming language (sections 1 - 6 of the tutorial available online at the official website of the language: https://docs.python.org/2/tutorial/index.html)
- the Pyhton interpreter
- input and print functions
- numeric variables (int and float), basic operations (+, -, *, /, %)
- the if statement
- the while and for statements
- String variables (basic operations, methods, the len function)
- lists in Pyhton
- basic concepts on Python functions and modules
