Learning outcomes

The course wants to give a wide historic glance to the history and technique of glass, with a special attention to the Murano one, in particular from the XIX to the XX century. The glass production will be analyzed inside the complex system of the international decorative arts.

Program

18 hours to talk about:
- Technical and historic base
- The Decorative Arts at the great International's Exhibitions
- The Monza exhibitions of Decorative Arts
- The Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris (1925)
- The birth of a specialized critic
- The Murano production: from Salviati to the Venini
- The glass now

The exam will be a short text on one of the subjects treated during the 18 hours of the course: the title has to be previously discussed and decided by mail with the docent.
