Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to underline the main features of tourism in its geographical aspects. Starting from an introduction on general definitions of touristic phenomenon, then the focus will be moved on the territorial approach (location theoretical models; the Tourism Area Life Cycle; globalization impact on tourism; new forms of tourism). Emphasis should be paid to the relationship between tourism and culture and their historical and environmental impact. The Italian tourism industry will be analyzed in its structural composition and looking at the international contest. At the end of the course students will be able to understand and analyze the different backgrounds under a geographical point of view, to work through different scenarios in the touristic sector.

The exam is a written test consisting of ten questions with open answers. The exam lasts for 1 hour and the score is expressed in 30 point maximum.
