Learning objectives

- learning the possibilities offered by robotic platform in general surgery
- learning the main indications for the use of robotic platform in general surgery
- basic practical skills on the use of the main robotic platforms currently available (dry lab)

Prerequisites and basic notions

basic knowledge of pathologies concerning general surgery and surgical indications for the main pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract.

Program

- theoretical session: discussion on the principles of robotic surgery applied to general surgery. Discussion on the current limits of robotic surgery and on the evidence in the literature. Discussion on the future of robotic surgery.
- practical session: Dry lab where students will learn the basics of robot docking and the basic maneuvers of robotic surgery (limb movement, suturing, 3 limb and camera control). Final discussion on students' perception of robotic surgery.
