Learning objectives

The clinical simulation has the purpose to let the students learn some organizational, technical-practical and relational skills in safe setting. Moreover clinical simulation is aiming at develop in the student the problem solving ability using case method and role-playing . Using clinical simulation may reduce the emotional impact in dealing with patents’ real situation experienced by the nursing students in clinical setting. Also, the clinical simulation offers to the students the opportunity to train and apply theoretical principles to clinical practice. The clinical simulation activity happens in equipped settings, where a tutor or an expert nurse guides a small group of students.

Prerequisites and basic notions

100% mandatory attendance of the workshops is required

Program

The skills considered essential in the third year and developed with the laboratories are related to the acquisition of technical skills (Immobilization of the traumatized patient), assessment and clinical reasoning (advanced assessment of a person with cardio-respiratory problems, analyzing the case of a person with head trauma), safety (safe management of drug therapy in critical areas), organization and planning of assistance, evidence-based approach (analysis of a scientific article, bibliographic research on databases, decision-making based on the indications of the guidelines), relational (professional communication techniques applied to practical situations).

Didactic methods

The laboratory sessions generally include exercises in small groups and plenary reworking with the tutor. The role playing method is adopted for the development of relational skills

Learning assessment procedures

At the end of the academic year, the teacher will formulate the "approved" judgment on the exam report, taking into account the student's certified attendance at the laboratories, with possible recovery of absences and gaps in individual skills.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

Knowledge of the prerequisites, active participation and acquisition of the required skills

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

Participation in all planned workshops will be considered for final approval
