Learning objectives

Learning Outcomes: Professional laboratories represent opportunities for interactive learning and simulation aimed at facilitating the application of educational, organizational and research methodologies addressed to specific nursing and midwifery health care contexts and problems. They prepare students for the internship experience and to develop methodologies for reflection and reworking of the experience. These workshops are conducted in small groups at times defined in the teaching calendar and led by a supervising faculty member.

Prerequisites and basic notions

Knowledge of the main steps of a systematic review, knowledge of the main measures of diagnostic accuracy (sensitivity and specificity), basic principles of inferential statistics (hypothesis tests, confidence intervals), understanding of the results of a meta-analysis (aggregate point estimates , heterogeneity)

Program

Critical appraisall (internal validity, external validity, and clinical relevance) of a systematic review of diagnostic accuracy studies

Didactic methods

- Work in small groups under the supervision of the teacher - Presentation of the results of one's critical evaluation in plenary

Learning assessment procedures

Ongoing monitoring of active participation and collaboration during the proposed activities, as well as evaluation of the plenary presentation of the group work carried out. Attendance at the laboratory is mandatory for 100% of the expected number of hours.

Evaluation criteria

Active participation in the proposed group activities and mastery of the contents exposed during the plenary presentation.
