Learning objectives

The course presents key concepts and frameworks relating to the “business and society” literature. The evolution of Corporate Social Responsibility studies and the rise of more recent literature streams on Corporate Sustainability and Sustainable Business Models indicate a trend in management studies towards a strategic approach to sustainability in business.

The Business Model concept: origin, evolution and revolution of the concept
From business model to sustainable business models: archetypes, frameworks, patterns and canvas

Didactic methods

This course is designed to develop first academic knowledge and skills about the contribution and impacts of business on sustainability, from a strategic point of view. At the end of the course, candidates are expected to critically reflect on the drivers, benefits, and trade-offs of sustainability implementation and discuss possible relationships between sustainability and their specific research topics.
