Learning objectives

The course aims to provide students with core skills in understanding and producing scientific texts in English. During the course, students will analyze scientific articles in English relevant to the healthcare assistant profession.

Prerequisites and basic notions

It is required B1 level of English.
Use of basic Scientific English.

Program

Grammar exercises and the subject matter will be covered using scientific texts, articles, or videos with progressively increasing levels of difficulty.

Didactic methods

The course aims to provide students with specific language skills in the comprehension and oral and written production of medical-scientific texts, with particular attention to the lexical, syntactic, and morphological aspects of scientific English. Through lectures, group and pair work, exercises, discussions, translations, and analysis of texts and articles, the course aims to provide students with a balanced knowledge of both oral and written comprehension.

Oral examination

Evaluation criteria

Oral examination:
-Knowledge of the topics of the course;
-Ability to communicate effectively ;
-Use of medical/scientific terminology appropriately;
-Clarity, fluency and accuracy.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The final assessment will be valued according to the following guidelines:
-grammar accuracy
-clarity and mastery of the contents
-complete and correct answers.
