Learning objectives

The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and methodologies to implement prevention interventions, promotion and health education in schools of all levels, including through training and continuous education to teachers.

- Describe the level of sanitary conditions in schools and educational communities.
- Analyse intervention models of prevention, health promotion and education and environmental intervention (e.g., ergonomic) in schools of all levels.
- Critically analyse the primary and secondary studies carried out with respect to the various interprofessional and health assistant working approaches in the field of school health promotion and identify their external validity.
- Analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of the peer education model with respect to adolescent empowerment and storytelling-based prevention strategies.
- Analyse the epidemiology and the possible interventions for surveillance, safety promotion, and prevention of household accidents.
- Describe the epidemiology and prevention strategies in relation to specific adolescent issues such as eating disorders and bullying.
- Analyse the impact of learning and attention disorders for the development of life skills of children and adolescents.

Examination methods: To pass the exam, students will need to demonstrate the ability to:
- Describe and articulate risk assessment and event management in specific situations at the levels of home and school environment.
- Describe and analyse health education models in the school setting.
- Describe the main problematics of adolescence and define the inter-professional contribution in prevention.
- Discuss systematically and with an evidence-based approach the impact and outcomes of various health promotion intervention strategies/methodologies in the school setting.
