Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
Module: I MODULO PARTE (I)

Educational goals: knowledge of the stages of the civilization, geographical environment and main historical events of the ancient Near East, knowledge of the main historical sources concerning the periods treated and of the methods for their analysis; knowledge of the main and recent approaches to the study of the ancient Near East and of the main bibliographical tools.
Module: II MODULO PARTE (P)

The second part of the course (p) is aimed at an in-depth study of specific sectors of the history of the ancient Near East and relating sources, at providing the knowledge of specific bibliography, analytical and research tools framed in an integrated approach combining historical, phylological and archaeological data and methods.

Module: I MODULO PARTE (I)

The course (i+p) is aimed at providing a comprehensive view of the history of the ancient Near East from prehistory to first millennium BC. The first part (course i) is general in character and considers the major historical peridizations of Syro-Mesopotamian history, especially from the beginning of urban civilization till the end of the second millennium BC, with a summary presentation of the history of the first mill. BC. The latter period will be the object of the second part of the course (course p). This part will focus on the history of Anatolia, Syria and Mesopotamia from 1200 BC till the Achaemenid empire and examin in details events and political-economical dynamics concerning particularly the Neo-Hittite and Aramaic states and their relatioships with the Assyrian and Babylonian empires.
Methods: lectures, guided analysis of documents. Attendance is recommended; students who can not attend classes are invited to contact the teacher.
