Learning outcomes

To provide a practicai introduction to the Internet and to Web search tools, with a focus on philosophy-related resources.

Program

Syllabus
• Internet basics, glossary and definitions
• Web search tools - Search engines, directories, electronic encyclopedias, digital text collections, OPACs, newsgroups ond UGC (User-Generated Content)
• Online search techniques - Planning and carrying out a web search, evaluating results
• Philosophy resources on the Web
• Exercise - Search the Internet for information on a philosophy-related topic and present restults in a written document; accompany it with related files and digital resources, organized into folders.
Notes and worksheets will be distributed in cLass. All course materials wilL be made available on the Web prior to exam date.
