Learning outcomes

The course deals with the application of non-invasive investigation techniques in the archaeological field. The expected learning facts are:
KNOWLEDGE: 1. Theoretical basis of applied physics. 2. Use of a geophysical instrument. 3. Software processing.
SKILLS: 1. Knowing how to choose the non-invasive method of investigation to be applied based on the research that must be carried out. 2. Knowing how to use the basic analysis of a geophysical instrument examined: the magnetometer. 3. Ability to reprocess software data acquired through the magnetometer.

Program

1. General introduction to geophysics in archeology: law (VIARCH), geophysics in archeology, overview of geophysical methods (2 h); 2. Introduction to the fundamental principles of the magnetic method (2 h); 3. Examples of applied magnetometry (2 h); 4. Introduction to the other geophysical methods with relative examples (2 h); 5. Introduction to the other geophysical methods with relative examples (2 h); 6. Output with the magnetometer (2 h); 7. Output with the magnetometer (2 h); 8. Data processing software (2 h); 9. Data processing software (2 h). No prerequisites are required. Classroom meetings include lectures based on PowerPoint that will be provided to students. The teaching exits with the magnetometer will be an integral part of the course. Reference texts: lecture notes and lecture notes provided in classroom

Examination Methods

The objective of the exam consists in the verification of the expected learning outcomes previously specified. The exam will be carried out through a written test.
