PROGRAMME of the ACADEMIC YEAR 2016--2017

Tipologia dell’attività formativa: base

Formative goals:
a) the knowledge of the history of Europe in the Middle ages;
b) competence in the interpretation and in the analysis of the historical settings in which the students live;
c) in the meantime students are directed to improve the methods of historical research guided by the teacher, through a study-case.

Program

These goals are pursued:

a) with the study of the book: Breve storia dell’Europa medievale, Bologna, Pàtron, 2012, partially explained during the course.

b) MAIN COURSE:

Medieval History for Artistic Institutions
Verona and its territory during the times of Matilda of Canossa


to prepare with notes from the lessons, and the study of the medieval sources (also iconographic) introduced to the students during lessons, and available from the teacher.

In addition the students have to read:

Matilde nel Veneto. Atti delle giornate di studio di Garda, Nogara e Verona, a cura di P. Golinelli, Bologna, Pàtron, 2016.

For those who cannot attend lessons is required the reading of:

P. Golinelli, Matilde e i Canossa, Milano, Mursia, 2016.
