Learning outcomes
Provide an overview of Medieval Archaeology
Allowing a critical approach to material sources and to the interpretation, privileging the interdisciplinary.
Program
Course:
The course will be divided into three parts:
Introduction to the discipline: methods and approaches of medieval archeology in the study of artifacts. The archaeological excavation of medieval contexts. The study of materials.
(about 6 hours)
The medieval landscape: the environment and the artigianal space. Buildings, homes, structures.
(10 hours)
The contribution of archeology to the study of the monasteries and castles: places of power between the seventh and thirteenth centuries. Case studies and examples.
(20 hours)
