Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
The course is intended to provide students with both the theoretical and practical knowledge of the basic methods used during ethnographic fieldwork. Being organized as a laboratory, the course will take advantage of several teaching methods (lectures, projections and analysis of videos and still pictures, simulations, class readings, etc.) and will guide the students to a critical understanding of the complexity of fieldwork through a participatory formula.
For such a reason, even though it is not mandatory in order to take the final exam, attending classes is strongly recommended.

Examination Methods
The critical understanding of the topics discussed in the course will be assessed through an oral exam. Those who have attended at least four out of six classes are requested to produce a short report (6/8 sheets) and present it orally (topics of the report to be agreed upon at the end of the course). The oral exam for those who have not attended the classes consists of an interview on the course readings.
The final exam, both in its written and oral form, aims at verifying: the depth of knowledge gained; the critical and rhetorical skills of the student; his/her ability in connecting topics, using the appropriate vocabulary.
