L-LIN/05 - SPANISH LITERATURE

Learning outcomes

The aim of this basic course is to identify and analyze some of the most relevant topics and aspects of Spanish Literature produced from 1898 to 1936, with the aid of a critical methodology. Starting firstly from the cultural and social/historical context of the time, and especially from the study of the most influential literary movements of this period, lectures will focuse secondly on some outstanding themes of Miguel de Unamuno’s prose fiction and Federico García Lorca’s theatre.

Examination Methods

During the course, only for the students attending lectures, a written examination will take place to check the preparation on Part 1 (History of Spanish Literature, test + questions requiring short answers). For the students who have passed this written and preliminary examination, the oral examination will concern only Part II (literary texts); oral examination will be carried out in Italian and includes reading, translating ad commeting of passages drawn from the texts of Part II. The student will have to demonstrate his textual comprehension and his ability to place the examined work in its historical and cultural context. Students are advised to sit for the oral exam once they have acquired a linguistic competence corresponding, at least, at the B1 level.
Students, who can’t attend lectures at the University, are to follow the bibliographic instructions given in the programme listed above, reminding that the exam cannot be divided into modules to sit for separately.
