Learning outcomes

The course wants to initiate students, through a sociological reflection, in the meaning of socialization, primary socialization and identity, this is to improve their work like professional in a complex context. Through the study of the main approaches, it wants to give the basic instruments to recognize processes, agencies (in particular family), techniques for social identity construction and to analyse the relationship between socialization, identity and difference.

Program

On the first part, the course will focus the attention on socialization and identity construction in a complex context; the different agencies in particular family and peer group; socialization’s techniques and languages.
In the second part, will master the relationship between identity and difference; personal and social identity, through E. Goffman’s concept of “stigma”.

This program will be developed by frontal lessons, educational films, group’s work/discussion and drill lessons.
