Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide students with the essential elements, theoretical and empirical, to understand the process of socialization and identity construction of individuals in the context of complex modern societies.
The complete and consistent individual settlement in the objective world of a society or of a sector is the crucial junction of primary and secondary socialization process. Around this basic definition we will articulate the content of the course, taking care to provide future professionals in the education sector the main theoretical and empirical categories useful for the recognition, description and use of these tools in daily practice.

A monographic part of the course will be dedicated to the experience of socialization and identity building in groups. It aims to give students the tools to get in touch with the fundamental dynamics of behavior and social action, central in the design of the delivery of education and training practices, governing the operation of small and large groups such as the status hierarchy, the differentiation of roles, the construction of the rules, the emergence of leadership or entry and exit from the same groups.
