Learning objectives
Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the workshop, the students will:
1. Know the Early Childhood Education system, the main regulations and the functions of the educator in ECEC (Early Childhood Education and Care).
2. Understand the role and posture of the trainee towards educational staff, children and families.
3. Understand the essential ethical issues of educational work.
4. Know how to use the tools of observation, journal writing and case study as resources for learning in an internship situation.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
At the end of the workshop, the students will:
1. Be able to analyze the functioning of the services in which the internship activity will take place in the field.
2. Develop awareness of personal motivation to work in a specific educational setting.

Prerequisites and basic notions
Be enrolled in the second academic year.

Acquaintance with the group of students and establishment of a working group with a common goal;
• Conceiving the internship as an experience of personal and professional growth;
• Knowledge of early childhood educational contexts and characteristics of the educator (knowing, knowing how to do, knowing how to be, knowing how to transform)
• Understand the importance of observation in early childhood services, but also in any other educational area;

Didactic methods
The workshop aims to promote the development of professional skills and educational practices starting from a learned theoretical framework of reference, with particular attention to educational services for children from 0 to 3 years. Through practical exercise, active participation, reflection and re-elaboration are privileged both at an individual and group level.
Learning assessment procedures
A self-assessment work will be proposed for the laboratory itself, starting from the objectives that each student will have set for themselves at the beginning of the course.
Sharing of projects and final evaluations will be an integral part of student evaluation.
Evaluation criteria
The final evaluation will focus on the drafting of one or more educational projects developed both individually and in a small group on the basis of situations described or viewed with videos of moments of real activities in some kindergartens.
The project will be evaluated on the basis of the criteria of: completeness, coherence, originality, usability.
The methods of participation in the laboratory, the proposed activities and group work will provide additional elements to verify the acquisition of the expected learning outcomes.
The laboratory can be validated after checking the student's attendance at classroom activities for the entire amount of hours provided.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
There will be no numerical rating, but Approved or Not Approved will be used.
