The contents of the course will be: 1. Introduction to the study of cognitive processes in the age period 0-3 years, methods of research. 2. Main theories of cognitive development (classical theories and new orientations). 3. The development of motor, cognitive and metacognitive skills in the age period 0-3 years. 4. Cognitive basis of language. 5. The development of the ability to read and understand the emotions and intentions of others.

Didactic methods
The teacher will use: a) frontal lessons; b) thematic insights proposed to students, through small group work carried out in the classroom
Learning assessment procedures
The exam will be a written test consisting of 25 multiple choice questions (1 point for each correct answer) and a short open question (0-6 points). Time 45 minutes
Evaluation criteria
Objectives and contents: Students should demonstrate: the understanding of the main theoretical and methodological approaches in the field of the psychology of cognitive development; the understanding of the stages of cognitive development during the 0-3 year period; the ability to communicate their knowledge using an appropriate language, citing relevant bibliographical references.
Methods and evaluation: written exam. More information will be provided during the course.
