Program
The genesis of the modern anthropological paradigm in Pietro Bembo (Gli Asolani - 1505) e Baldassar Castiglione (Il Libro del Cortegiano - 1526).
Aim of the course is to reconstruct two essential stages in the definition of a new ideal of man and woman in the most advanced culture of early Cinquecento, whose philosophical premisses (Platonic tradition, late-medieval Aristotelianism, Christian thought) still wait for being adequately considered. This interpretation emphasizes a stimulating image of Renaissance as a period that defined a model of individual and society destined to exert a deep influence on the following centuries.
