Learning outcomes

The course aims to promote a fruitful dialogue with the classics of German philosophy, by focusing on a topic of great interest and actuality. We will focus on the idea of nation which arose between the 18th and 19th century and its rapid evolving toward aggressive forms of nationalism. The authors of reference are basically three: we will start from Herder then move on to Kant and later we will analyze Fichte’s "Addresses to the German Nation”.

Program
