Period
Sem. IIB dal Apr 25, 2016 al Jun 5, 2016.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to promote a fruitful dialogue with the classics of German philosophy, by focusing on a topic of great interest and actuality. We will focus on the idea of nation which arose between the 18th and 19th century and its rapid evolving toward aggressive forms of nationalism. The authors of reference are basically three: we will start from Herder then move on to Kant and later we will analyze Fichte’s "Addresses to the German Nation”.
Program
The texts are the essays Kant and Herder which we will read and discussed during classes. An handout will be available before classes start. The ground text is Fichte’s "Addresses to the German Nation".
