Module: STATISTICA

The course aims to provide a methodology of quantitative analysis based on observation, collection and processing of collective phenomena. In particular, the issues are treated on analysis of data, the design and construction of in-vestigations and trials in different sectors, for descriptive, interpretative and decision-making purposes.


Module: MATEMATICA
-------
This course aims at providing the students with the mathematical tools (set-theoretic and algebraic structures, differential and integral calculus in one or several real variables, ordinary differential equations) whose knowledge is indispensable for the achievement of the degree. A particular attention is paid to the concrete application of the learned notions.

Module: STATISTICA

The course aims to provide a methodology of quantitative analysis based on observation, collection and processing of collective phenomena. In particular, the issues are treated on analysis of data, the design and construction of in-vestigations and trials in different sectors, for descriptive, interpretative and decision-making purposes.
Statistics and its applications: content and applications of statistics, the origin and the evolution of statistics, the statistical sources and the graphical representations.
The means: the arithmetic mean, the harmonic mean, the geometric mean, the square mean, the cubic mean and power means; the median, the other medium position: quartiles, percentiles quantiles; the mode; final comments.
The index numbers and other statistical reports: the comparison of statistical data, statistical reports, indices ratios, the based fixed and mobile index num-bers, the change of the basis of the index numbers, the index numbers for the monetary adjustment.
The indices of variability: the variability; ranges of variation, the range, the difference range; difference from an average; the average of the deviations, the average of the squares, the variance, the variance of a linear transformation, of the sum of variables, of groups of variables; standardization.
Simmetry: the Pearson's skewness.
Probability: main definitions; theorems of probability.
The study of relations between phenomena, the phases of the analytical repre-sentation, the bivariate model, the method of least squares, the linear regression, the linear correlation coefficient, other considerations about the linear correlation coefficient, the regression line in the weighted distributions, the coefficient of determination.
Relations between mutabilities, the observed distribution of two phenomena, distribution theory, the comparison between the observed and the theoretical model, a measure of the connection.

Algebra. Sets, relations and functions. Real numbers. Linear algebra (affine geometry).
Functions of one real variable. Generalities. The topology of the real line, of the extended real line and of affine spaces. Limits, continuity and local behaviour. Derivation. Drawing the graph of a function. Integration.
Functions of several real variables and differential equations. Functions of two or more real variables: generalities, partial derivatives, differential. Ordinary differential equations: the linear case, the separable variables case.
