Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
-Recognize the different levels of plant body organization (cell, tissue, organ, organism, organism within its environment);
-describe the principal compartments and structures of the plant cell;
-recognize the various part of the plant body (root, shoot, lateral organs), and describe their organization from the microscopic and macroscopic point of view;
-state the characteristic of the main reproductive strategies of higher plants;
-use a suitable language.

1) The plant cell:
-the membrane system;
-the cytosol and the ribosomes;
-the cell wall;
-cytoskeleton;
-endomembrane and secretory pathway;
-the vacuole and the cell expansion process;
-plastids and mitochondria;
- the nucleus, mitosis and meiosis, the cytokinesis.
2) The plant tissues
-primary and secondary meristems;
-parenchymatic tissues;
-integumental tissues;
-conducting and supporting tissues;
-secretory tissues.
3) The plant anatomy and overall organization
-The shoot and its development;
-the stem, primary and secondary organization;
-the leaves and their adaptation to the environment;
-the root and its development;

Examination Methods
The examination will be an oral test aimed to verify :
-the ability to recognize plant anatomical and histological structures; this test will be performed through the description of an anatomical/histological structure, included in the Plant Anatomical Atlas (author: Flavia Guzzo), which is supplied free of charge to the students through the e.learning platform of UNIVR;
-the overall degree of knowledge of the subject of this course;
-the scientific language skills.

Graduation
Attendance modes and venues
As stated in the Didactic Regulations, attendance is compulsory for practical and laboratory exercises (see courses with laboratory in the annex), unless otherwise stipulated by the teaching board.
Attendance at lectures is strongly recommended.

The course's teaching activities take place in Villa Lebrecht and Villa Eugenia, located in the San Floriano di Valpolicella campus, and may also take place in the other spaces of the Science and Engineering area, which is composed of the buildings of Ca‘ Vignal 1, Ca’ Vignal 2, Ca' Vignal 3 and Piramide, located in the Borgo Roma campus,
Lectures are held in the classrooms of Villa Lebrecht while practical exercises are carried out in the teaching laboratories dedicated to the various activities.
