Learning outcomes
The course objective is to provide specific knowledge aimed at the aesthetic and functional restoration of the dental element damaged by carious or traumatic pathology. In the case of pathological involvement of the dental pulp, the student will be able to treat the affected dental element endodontically, preparing the appropriate operative protocols. PRACTICAL ACTIVITY IN ENDODONTICS MODULE During the practical part of the course, students will apply the theoretical knowledge of nomenclature, classification, morphology and endodontic anatomy in a simulated environment (extracted teeth and endodontic simulators) practicing pulp chamber opening stages, instrumentation and root canal filling in maxillary and mandibular incisors, canines, premolars and molars. PRACTICAL ACTIVITY IN RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY MODULE Educational objectives. The course, as the knowledge of etiopathogenesis, prevention and diagnosis of the previously acquired carious pathology, aims to provide the specific knowledge necessary to draw up and implement a restorative treatment plan, suitable for the morphological, functional and aesthetic restoration of hard tissues. of the tooth in respect of the periodontium. The techniques will be discussed with the most modern indications, supported by international literature, in direct and indirect restoration. ENDODONTICS MODULE The purpose of the course is to provide students with basic technical knowledge about the therapy of the diseases of the pulp and of the periradicular tissues resulting from endodontic origin. The aim is to increase their technical skills about the successfully opening of the pulp chamber, the endodontic intrumentation, the disinfection and the root canal system filling. Students will be able to understand the basic knowledge of ergonomics and endodontic treatment management with due regard for periodontal tissues and adjacent structures. In addition, they will learn the characteristics of materials and equipment used in endodontics. RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY MODULE Educational objectives. The course aims to provide students with the tools to formulate a diagnosis, a prognosis and a multidisciplinary treatment plan for the treatment of single compromised dental elements. Through the review of the classical and current scientific literature, students will be able to: - Plan the multidisciplinary treatment plan and causal therapy - Collect clinical data on Anamnestic: systemic diseases and pharmacological therapies that influence caries pathology, intraoral photographs, examinations radiographs, clinical examinations - Assign the prognosis to individual dental elements by determining when a tooth is maintainable - Understanding the influence of carious disease on the pulpo dentinal organ - Determine the importance of coronal restoration on the prognosis of the endodontically treated tooth - Understanding dental biomechanics and formulate cavitary diagnosis - Know how and when to use adhesive endocanal retentions - Understanding the use of clinical crown elongation in the margin of subgingival restoration - Describe the indications and limitations of indirect partial adhesive restorations - Know how to achieve indirect restoration adhesives - Apply direct hooding and therapeutic alternatives including mechanisms, outcome, technique of execution and materials
