Learning outcomes

Make the students know and learn:
- The main causes of orthopedic disabilities
- The rehabilitation principles of the most common orthopedic disabilties
- The principles of operation and the indications / contraindications of physical therapy in orthopedic disabilities
- The Evidence Based Medicine principles and their application in evaluating the effectiveness of physical medicine and rehabilitation of the musculoskeletal system.

Program

Low back pain: causes, clinical expressions and rehabilitation; evidence of effectiveness of rehabilitation treatments.
- Rehabilitation of hip arthroplasty and hip fracture
- Rehabilitation of rotator cuff surgery
- Proprioceptive rehabilitation
- Physical therapy: electrotherapy, ultrasound, laser, magnetoherapy, shockwaves.
Evidence of effectiveness of physical therapy.
- Principles of Evidence Based Medicine (hierarchy of evidence)

Examination Methods

Written and oral tests.
1-hour written test: multiple-choice questions and open questions.
Oral test (generally few days after the written test): discussion of the written test, possible other questions.
