BIOMECHANICS Definition of biomechanics Kinetics and kinematics Effects of forces applied to the human body: Concepts of gravity, line of gravity and support base Muscle biomechanics (levers, vectors, series and parallel components of the muscle) Concept of friction, forces of reaction Concept of inertia Characteristics of visco-elastic tissues and kinesiological implications Types of contraction Concepts of fixation, neutralization Concept of kinetic chain SEGMENTAL BIOMECHANICS LOWER LIMBS Ankle-foot (joint characteristics, muscle insertions, innervation and muscle action) Knee (joint characteristics, muscle insertions, innervation and muscle action) (hip is dealt with in the functional kinesiology module, in connection with the pelvic girdle) UPPER LIMB Shoulder girdle (joint characteristics, muscle insertions, innervation and muscle action) Shoulder (joint characteristics, muscle insertions, innervation and muscle action) Elbow (joint characteristics, muscle insertions, innervation and muscle action) Wrist (joint characteristics, muscle insertions, innervation and muscle action) (the hand and the manipulative and prehensile functions are dealt with in the functional kinesiology module)

Written exam with both multiple choice and open questions, Followed by an oral test.

Evaluation criteria

evaluation in 30/30 of both the written exam and the oral exam. Minimum limit for exceeding 18/30
