Program
The course will deal with the following topics: Phenomenology of adult and senile swallowing. Swallowing in the elderly: primary presbyophagy. Neurological and neurodegenerative dysphagia; Dysphagia in eating disorders (cortical and subcortical dementias). Dysphagia in the Grave Celebroleso (LCF); The tracheostomized dysphagia patient (swallowing, phonation, decannulation prot.) Outline of the speech therapy assignment of the oncological dysphagia patient. Dysphagia treatment model: screening procedures (rational); evaluation of swallowing function, speech therapy observation at meal, counseling to the caregiver Phoniatric vs speech therapy evaluation, instrumental evaluation (FEES, VFG): elements of interest for rehabilitation treatment The management and treatment of the dysphagia patient hospitalized in the acute, subacute, chronic phase . Methodological approach of speech therapy management: - Screening procedures - Clinical - functional evaluation (Bedside Examination) - Morpho-dynamic evaluation of the structures involved in swallowing in the unresponsive, minimally responsive patient, in the responsive patient, in the patient with a tracheal tube. Evaluation of the cranial nerves involved in swallowing - Conclusions evaluating the rationale of the treatment - The choice of dietary consistencies and food aids: the role of the speech therapist - Indications for the administration of drugs in dysphagia patients - Therapeutic objective: physiological swallowing, functional swallowing - Treatment rehabilitation of the dysphagia patient: from enteral nutrition to oral feeding - Individualized speech therapy treatment: goal, restorative procedures, compensatory procedures - Indicators for request for phoniatric check-up - Discharge (counseling to the patient and to the caregiver for protected discharge) Guiding criteria the choice of food; correlation between dietary artefacts and specific deficits Information and training counseling for the dysphagic patient and the reference caregive.

Learning assessment procedures
The examination procedures will be defined in relation to the health situation. The exam will be in oral form, it can be managed in person or remotely The test will focus on three questions in order to verify specific knowledge and skills in taking care of the dysphagia patient in adulthood and geriatric age
Evaluation criteria
Profit rating expressed in thirtieths. The elements of evaluation that contribute to the attribution of the mark are: - knowledge and understanding of the physiology related to the cognitive functions underlying oral functions and of the physiology related to the swallowing function - The ability to apply knowledge and autonomy judgment (ie the ability to criticize and formulate judgments), in identifying signs and symptoms of dysfunction of the swallowing function; - determine the candidates for the intervention and the type of habilitation / rehabilitation technique to be performed. - knowledge of the rehabilitative intervention techniques of the person with swallowing deficit. - communication skills to counsel healthcare professionals and reference caregivers. - ability to identify and use appropriate functional outcome measures. - ability to analyze what are the clinical disorders that revolve around the swallowing deficit.
