Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide the student with the basic notions on the functioning of the hearing system and on the causes of hearing hearing disorders in childhood, adulthood and geriatric age, with particular attention to the correlation between hearing loss and communication. .
At the end of the module, the student knows the causes of the relapse of these pathologies on the acoustic-verbal communicative function.

Anatomy and physiology of the ear
Cochlear physiology: movements of endocchlear fluids, vibration of the basilar membrane, hair cells, mechano-electrical transduction.
Physiology of the auditory nerve pathways: acoustic nerve, central auditory system, perception system
The bianural hearing
Classification of hearing loss
Subjective and objective examinations of hearing ability
The screening programs
Childhood audiometry
Prosthetic indication and monitoring: types of hearing aids and implants.
Practical exercises in reading and interpreting exams in all the areas mentioned above.
