Learning outcomes
The course aims to bring the students to reflect sociologically on the concept of family as a relevant context in which each individual is placed in order to improve their acting as speech therapists in a constantly changing world. Through the knowledge of the main analytical approaches, we want to provide the conceptual tools needed to recognize family structures, roles and functions, cultural and relational processes that characterize them in relation to the changes that distinguish Italian contemporary society. Subsequently, we intend to deepen the typically family-related aspects of the family, the cultural and communicative aspects, internal dynamics and relationships with the outside, and in particular, the prejudice, stigma and stereotype that often accompany them when presenting characters of diversity . This is to provide students with a kind of "toolbox" to face today's complexity, reflecting on their professional work, widening their point of view, developing their own judgment, communication and relationship skills with the Other .
Program
The course is handled through the following topics.
• "Liquid" modernity and the challenges for society and the individual: diversity and complexity
• The study of the family: from the contributions of the classics to the current prospects
• The aspects of the family: structures, roles, functions
• Family as a socialization area: between relationship and communication
• Family transformations: internal aspects and relationships with the outside
• Different from whom? Family and caregivers between resources and problems
• Stigmatization and social relations
• Family, networks, and services .
The didactic methods adopted include:
- frontal lessons devoted to the transmission of basic notions and key categories useful for the implementation of theoretical knowledge;
- interactive lessons, through video analysis and sample material, common discussion, group work and exercises, and wherever possible, the participation of privileged witnesses in order to improve the skills of learning, applied understanding, work in team, relationship and communication.
Throughout the academic year, the teacher is available for individual appointment by appointment.
The monthly reception schedule is published on the web under the "Alerts" entry.
