History of microbiology and properties of microorganisms. Basic elements of the microbiology laboratory and laboratory safety. Pathogenicity and virulence in bacteria. Conventional pathogens and conditional pathogens. Mechanisms of the pathogenic action of bacteria. Notes on bacteriology and principles of bacterial cultivation methods. Bacterial classification of the main families of clinical interest (streptococci, staphylococci, enterobacteria, neisseria. Obligate anaerobic bacteria and spore-forming bacteria (clostridia). Action and principles of drugs with antimicrobial activity. Notes on antibiotics. -resistance Structure and classification of viruses and mechanisms of replication Mechanisms of the pathogenic action of viruses Localized, generalized, silent, persistent, slow, latent infections Classification of viruses of greatest clinical interest: HIV, HAV, HBV, HCV, HDV.
