Introduction to Epidemiology: - definition, objectives and characteristics of epidemiology - measures in epidemiology The concept of health, disease and cause of disease in epidemiology. Criteria for evaluating the causal link. Epidemiological studies: descriptive, analytical, notes on experimental Elements for the evaluation of the main health problems of a population: - epidemiological profile of the Italian population - main causes of death in the general population Epidemiology and prevention of infectious diseases: - the epidemiological chain and modes of transmission: endemic, sporadic, epidemic diseases - direct and indirect prophylaxis of infectious diseases; disinfection and sterilization - specific direct prophylaxis: vaccine prophylaxis, vaccination strategies, law and vaccinations, vaccination calendar Notes on epidemiology, primary and secondary prevention (screening) of the main chronic-degenerative diseases: ischemic heart disease, diabetes mellitus, malignant neoplasms.
