Learning outcomes

The course aims to make students able to orient themselves within the complex and heterogeneous world of social services, providing tools and analysis criteria aimed at developing knowledge and expertise on the functioning and organization of services.

Program

The course will provide an overview on the welfare and the history and transformation of social services in Italy, dealing in detail the different types of services: for children, adolescents and families, for seniors, for disability, in contrast to poverty and social exclusion, for mental health, and for drug addiction. Special attention will be given to a broader view of social services organization that goes beyond the traditional concept of service targets (and boundaries that separate them), allowing to observe the answers that services and other welfare actors are acting in the frame of a community, participatory and generative welfare.
