The course aims to provide basic notions on general psychopathology and psychiatric nosography, so as to enable students to recognize the main signs and symptoms of mental distress, develop a diagnostic orientation and enhance the clinical knowledge acquired within the therapeutic-rehabilitative work. During the lessons the following topics will be addressed: 1. Description of the main theoretical models used in psychiatry to frame and interpret signs and symptoms of mental disorders; concept of norm; principles of psychiatric nosography 2. General principles of psychiatric semiotics; evaluation of ideo-motor attitude, mimicry and language 3. Consciousness and its disorders 4. Thought and its disorders 5. Affectivity and its disorders 6. The obsessive-compulsive spectrum 7. Personality and its disorders 8. The concept of hysteria and its evolution 9. Dissociative disorders; somatic symptom disorders 10. Neurodivergence: autism and ADHD
