Knowledge of the main mechanisms of molecular and cellular injury and the basic reactions of cecells and tissues to the abnormal stimuli that underlie diseases.

3. The innate immune response
Mononuclear phagocytes: features and functions
Acute inflammation: vascular changes and cellular events
Inflammatory exudate: characteristics and functions
Leucocyte recruitment
Leukocyte effector mechanisms ( phagocytosis, Killing and degradation of phagocytosed Microbes)
Chemical Mediators and Regulators of Inflammation: soluble and cellular origins
