SPS/08 - SOCIOLOGY OF CULTURE AND COMMUNICATION

Learning outcomes

The course aims to analyse the main sociological theories about communication and sociology of sport. It will discuss the importance of mega sport events in the context of globalisation and the social aspects of the historical trend towards sportivization.
At the end of the course students will be able to know the main sociological theories and the methods of social research on sport events. They will know also the tecniques of social research in order to analyse the tv sport audience and the relations among sport, sponsor and advertisement.

Examination Methods

During the final exam students will answer to four open questions about the programs presented during the course. The attender students will have to pass only two partial exams during the course.
The evaluation criteria will be: the comprehension of the main theories, the mastery of the disciplinary lexicon and the description of the interrelations among different topics.
