Learning objectives

The course aims at analysing the main theories about communication and sociology of sport. In particular, it will examine globalisation, sport events and the historical aspects of “sportivization”. At the end of the course students will be able to know the main sociological theories and the methods of social research on sport events. They will know also the tecniques of social research in order to analyse the tv sport audience and the relations among sport, sponsor and advertisement.

Learning assessment procedures

For attending students, the examination consists of an oral interview on the topics covered in class.
For non-attending students, the examination consists of an oral interview on the examination texts indicated on the syllabus.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

- Carefulness and sensibility in reading the assigned texts;
- Accuracy, attention, and seriousness in following the instructions and completing the assigned work;
- Commitment and being on time for the assigned tasks;
- The ability to be effective and clear, using no more words than is required, and stating the argument in a clear and simple way;
- The coherence of the argument;
- Ability to organize and structure the content of the presentation in a logical and consistent way;
- Displayed mastery of the subject and intellectual maturity.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

To be considered an attending student, one must attend at least 70% of the lectures.
