Learning objectives
Basic knowledge of the technical exercise and teaching of the following athletics specialties: Sprint, Middle distance, Hurdles, Long jump, High jump, Shot put, Discus throw, javelin throw. Will be also introduced the main training methods referring to the same specialties.
Prerequisites and basic notions
The student must be able to participate in the course. No other prerequisites.
Program
This course aims to describe the disciplines that are part of World Athletics by delving into the training and evaluation methods of most of them. The determinants of mountain and trail running will also be explored in depth. Laboratory experience will also be done.
Didactic methods
In this module, both theoretical notions and practical exercises will be provided which will have the aim of deepening some theoretical concepts by applying them to a real training or evaluation context.
Learning assessment procedures
To access the final exam it will be necessary to send the teacher a 4-5 page essay and a 5-7 slide ppt on an in-depth topic among those covered in the course or curiosities that emerged during the course (topic to be agreed with the teacher). Access to the exam will allow you to take an oral test where the student will begin by presenting the ppt of their in-depth study and which will be followed by questions from the teacher on the topics covered in class.
Evaluation criteria
The score for the essay and for each question is assigned based on the completeness of the answer and the level of depth/understanding of the topic.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
The grade will be made up of 1/3 of the evaluation of the essay (writing, ppt, and presentation) and 2/3 of the evaluation of the open questions asked by the teacher in the oral exam
