M-PED/02 - HISTORY OF PEDAGOGY AND EDUCATION

II semestre - sede Trento dal Feb 12, 2018 al May 31, 2018.

Learning outcomes

The module aims to analyse the "copernican revolution" in pedagogy which started between the XIX and XX centuries from the new education movement in Europe and America and which was closely connected with the centrality of the person being educated. This centrality will be examined using different approaches and from various viewpoints (scientific, philosophical and religious) that characterise the movement.

Contents:
PROGRAMME
1. reasons, aims and structure of the course;
2. genesis and characteristics of the new education movement;
3. a precursor to the pupil-centred revolution: J.J. Rousseau;
4. J.J. Rousseau and J.H. Pestaozzi;
5. new education and Hebraism: J.H. Pestalozzi and J. Korczak.

Teaching Methods:
The teaching methods used will be teacher-led, alternated with guided reading activities. Specific researches by the students will be supported.

Examination Methods

The final examination consists of an oral exam.
