Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Educational methodology (2021/2022)
The teaching is organized as follows:
Learning outcomes
: Teaching aims to critically educate the student about the knowledge of the profession of the Dental Hygienist, provide basic knowledge regarding the most common pathologies of the oral cavity, focusing in particular on the aspect of prevention. It provides basic knowledge about behaviour changes through learning and how these changes are stored. In addition, the basic oral hygiene knowledge is provided with the characteristics of the different home oral hygiene facilities and the correct ways of using them in order to be able to advise the tools and products most suitable for each patient. ORAL HYGIENE FUNDAMENTALS MODULE Training objectives: The course aims to critically educate the student about knowledge of the profession of the Dental Hygienist and his role within the dental team, the strategies that the dental hygienist can put in place for the promotion of health and the basic knowledge of oral cavity anatomy. The course also aims to provide the student with modalities and strategies for communicating with the patient. COMMUNITY DENTISTRY MODULE Training objectives: The course aims to provide the student with the basic knowledge regarding the most common pathologies of the oral cavity, focusing in particular on the aspect of prevention. The course aims to provide knowledge about the figure of the dental hygienist and his possible roles as promoter of oral health in different age groups in line with what is proposed by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization. Expected learning outcomes include preventive concepts and strategies related to the aforementioned pathologies. LEARNING PSYCHOLOGY MODULE Training objective: Changes in behavior through learning and how these changes are stored. The various forms of learning. Intelligence and its measurement. The course will allow the student to obtain the necessary preparation for the deepening and use of The Psychology of Learning understood as an experimental discipline. Cognitive processes such as learning, memory, perception, attention, thought, motivation, emotion and communication will be contextualized in the general methodological system of cognitive sciences, allowing the student to find all the elements of comparison and integration with methodologies, theories and models, both from a historical and application perspective in the world of contemporary research. METHODS AND MATERIALS OF ORAL HYGIENE MODULE Training objectives: The aim of the Course is to learn the characteristics of home oral hygiene and the correct methods of use to be able to determine which tools and products are best suited to each patient in order to provide personalized indications to maintain good oral health. Also crucial is the knowledge of the injuries caused by the improper use of the available principals and the different methods of motivation of the patient.
Program
Starting from the analysis of the historical path that psychology has led to identify itself as an experimental discipline, the most important issues involved in cognitive processes will be addressed. The first of the studied aspects will be the methodological and epistemological one to understand the relationship between Psychology understood as an experimental discipline and the other humanistic disciplines that contribute to the study of human thought. The other topics covered will be the classic ones of Psychology such as the study of perceptual experience, psychophysics, theories, models and research on consciousness, attention, memory, thought, intelligence, learning, motivation, emotions, communication. In addition, topics such as the nature and treatment of mental disorders, the development of personality throughout life and the behavioral biology that contribute to the organization of man's cognitive architecture will be touched upon. following topics:

- Preventive and Community Dentistry: definition, purposes, health and prevention, national oral health guide-lines in development age and in adults, health assistance models, dentistry assistance models, LEA in Dentistry.
- Deciduous and permanent teeth, natal and neonatal teeth.
- Caries: epidemiology, epidemiologic indices, etiology, clinical features, diagnosis, risk assessment (indices and models), prevention, early childhood caries;
Fluorine: mechanism of action, fluorine prophylaxis, dental fluorosis;
Dental sealants: use and application, glass-ionomer and resin materials, remineralization strategies.
- Periodontal diseases: epidemiology, etiology, clinical features and diagnosis of gingivitis and periodontitis, periodontal indices, risk factors, prevention.
- Oral hygiene role in prevention of oral and systemic diseases in children and adults; General rules for infections’ prevention in oral stomatology.
- Oral hygiene practice with children: methodology and strategies with anxious patients.
- Oral pathologies prevention during pregnancy.
- Dental abnormalities: etiology, types (number, volume, shape, place, position, eruption, growth, structure).
- Malocclusion: Angle classification, overjet and overbite, oral habits, preventive and interceptive orthodontics.
- Oral cancer: epidemiology, etiology, clinical features, risk factors, precancerous lesions, risk assessment, screening and early diagnosis.
- Bisphosphonates osteonecrosis (BRONJ): definition, epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis criteria, risk factors, dentristry procedures, prevention.

LEARNING PSYCHOLOGY
The exam taken during an official appeal will consist of a written test with thirty multiple choice questions to be carried out in 30 minutes (3 the answer alternatives of which only one is correct. For the final judgment expressed in thirtieths, a correct answer has value equal to 1 point, an incorrect answer has a value of 0 points, an answer not given has a value of 0 points).
