Learning outcomes

The course aims at providing the student with the instruments for identifying, understanding and using the regulatory sources concerning labour law, with particular regard to the protection of the most vulnerable groups (such as the disabled and not-EU citizens). The course enables the student to develop a correct language and to acquire the necessary skills and categories for analysing and managing social issues from a legal perspective.

Program

The purpose of labour law: the protection of the employee; the evolvement of labour law, in the Italian and EU legal systems. Distinction between subordination and self-employment; typical and atypical jobs; the hiring process; the regulation of the employment relationship: the employers’ powers and their limits. Specific focuses: the work of disabled people and non-EU citizens; discriminations.

Examination Methods

For attending students the examination consists of an oral discussion on the topics dealt with during the course.
For non-attending students the oral exam focuses on the programme as presented in the textbooks.
All these examinations are aimed at verifying students’ knowledge, correct use of language and capacity of connecting the different thematic areas involved, with specific attention to the issues related to the work of disabled people and of non-Eu citizens, and discrimination.
