L-LIN/03 - FRENCH LITERATURE
I semestre (Lingue e letterature straniere) dal Sep 27, 2021 al Jan 8, 2022.
In the context of the theoretic and critical investigation of French literary studies provided in the two-year master’s degree program, this course aims at developing both historical and methodological competences. As for the students attending the course in French literature for publishing and journalism, this course offers insights on the history of French publishing and on the relationship between literature or literary criticism and jouralism in contemporary France. At the end of this course, students shall acquire knowledge in the field of the recent history of French lit-erary criticism and related methods (LM37) and the history of publishing in France (LM19), along with the capacity of applying such knowledge to literary research as well as to teaching French.
French literature and the arts
Starting from reception theories, the course aims at analyzing the relationship between French literature and the arts (fine and decorative arts, music, dance) from a diachronic, hermeneutical and intersemiotic point of view. Publishing issues will be considered, too.
Students will have to read entirely the following two texts, in these editions:
Molière, Le Bourgeois gentilhomme, Paris, Pocket, ultima edizione
Emile Zola, La Curée, Paris, Gallimard « Folio classique », ultima edizione
In addition, critical tools, as well as short texts by Diderot, Baudelaire, Mallarmé, Proust, and iconographic and audiovisual documents will also be presented to the students. All the materials and complete critical bibliography will be indicated at the beginning of the course and will be published on Moodle.
Oral examination, in French. Students will have to know the great themes of the course and to contextualize and analyze the texts.
