Learning outcomes
The laboratory aims to provide students with the basic knowledge of methodologies and technologies for the design and creation of websites. At the end of the laboratory the students: - will know the basic principles of usability, accessibility, internationalization, compatibility, privacy, and security of a website; - will be able to design and build a website following a correct methodology and an appropriate use of fundamental technologies (e.g., HTML5, CSS); - will be able to enable simple user interactions in a website (e.g., JavaScript); - will be able to use and manage a Content Management System (CMS) for the creation of websites.
Program
The workshop is divided into two modules: the first is dedicated to theoretical and practical lessons; the second is dedicated to designing and implementing a prototype of a website.
Module 1, theoretical and practical lessons:
- the Internet and the web: communication protocols, accessibility and usability standards;
- web technologies: HTML + CSS, Content Management Systems;
- web design fundamentals: layout, color schemas, fonts; multimedia;
- contents: GDPR, copyright and free licenses;
- designing and creating a website: from requirements gathering to deployment;
Module 2, workshop activities: creation of a website:
- design: requirements gathering, structuring contents;
- implementation: development of a prototype (by HTML+CSS or using a CMS).

Examination Methods
The exam consists in the presentation and discussion of a project and prototype of a website created by applying the acquired knowledge (students must demonstrate that they have understood the topics covered). For documents delivery, the instructions on the moodle platform must be followed.
