Learning objectives
In accordance with the periodization adopted in our French literature courses (first year: from 1850 to the present ; second year: Eighteenth century and first half of the Nineteenth century; third year: Sixteenth and Seventeenth centuries), this course aims to present the French Literature of the 16th and the 17th Centuries and the artistic and philosophical culture of those historical periods. Moreover, the professor intends to provide students with the theoretical and methodological tools for the literary and linguistic analysis of the proposed texts. The lessons will be held in French, with the purpose of improving the students’ linguistic level as well. The courses will consist in lectures and seminars. Remedial courses will be organised as well.
Prerequisites and basic notions
According to the prerequisite criteria, the student must have passed the exams of French Literature 1, French Literature 2, French Language 1 and French Language 2.

1. "I go, I come, I run, et partout je tracasse" (I, 7): the restless Muses of Jodelle and Grévin
30 years after the death of Enea Balmas and 60 years since the publication of Enea Balmas' volume on Jodelle: A poet of the French Renaissance: Etienne Jodelle, la sua vita il suo tempo, Florence, Olschki, 1962, the poet of Cleopatra captive and of the Amours, recently published in the Gallimard /Poésie edition curated by Agnès Rees, 2023, will be the subject of study in this course. The tragic poet of the Captive Cleopatra and the tormented poet of the Amours, the Counter-Amours and many other poetic constellations deserve, after the fundamental works of Enea Balmas (1962) and Emmanuel Buron (1997, 2013, 2016, 2022 UM), to be studied in the light of new research and insights. The mystery of his life, his network, his relationships with his patrons, his tragic and comic theater, his satirical sonnets, his complex and particular language, his failure will be examined in this course. The poet of the Pléiade constellation, Jacques Grévin, and in particular the song writer L'Olimpe and his theater will also be studied.

In this module, the critical reading of Racine's Phèdre, on a thematic and formal level, will be preceded and accompanied by a presentation of the main problems of the historical, literary and aesthetic context of seventeenth-century theater and in particular of 'classical' tragedy and Racine's original elaborations, to end with a hint at the current reception of the play, also in the light of the most recent French theatrical performances.

The following will be evaluated: the quality of the oral expression in French, the clarity and coherence of the argumentation, the completeness of the information and the ability to critically deepen the acquired knowledge.

I CFU F sono solitamente relativi ad abilità informatiche, competenze linguistiche, stage e tirocini e ulteriori attività formative accreditate in questa tipologia dal Collegio Didattico.
Nel corso di laurea in Lingue e letterature per l’editoria e i media digitali sono previste le seguenti tipologie:
- 3 CFU per terza lingua (livello B1)
- 6 CFU per tirocinio obbligatorio
- 3 CFU per informatica (curriculum Editoria)
- 9 CFU per laboratori (curriculum Digital Humanities).
Le competenze informatiche possono essere acquisite attraverso:
- il superamento della prova pratica presso le aule informatiche di Ateneo,
- la frequenza dei corsi attivati da scuole e centri accreditati dall’AICA (Associazione Italiana per l’Informatica e il Calcolo Automatico) o riconosciuti dalla Provincia e dalla Regione e superamento della relativa prova finale. Le domande per il riconoscimento delle competenze informatiche acquisite precedentemente vengono esaminate dalla Commissione per il riconoscimento delle Competenze Informatiche.Le attività di tirocinio sono finalizzate a far acquisire allo studente una conoscenza diretta nel settore editoriale e delle Digital Humanities nonché abilità specifiche d’interesse professionale (revisione bozze, grafica editoriale, costruzione di pagine web, archivi digitali etc.).

Stage e tirocini
Nel piano didattico della laurea triennale in Lingue e letterature per l’editoria e i media digitali (L11 ED-DH) è previsto un tirocinio/stage obbligatorio (CFU 6).
Le attività di stage sono finalizzate a far acquisire allo studente una conoscenza diretta in settori di particolare interesse per l’inserimento nel mondo del lavoro e per l’acquisizione di abilità professionali specifiche.
Le attività di stage sono svolte sotto la diretta responsabilità di un singolo docente presso studi professionali, enti della pubblica amministrazione, aziende accreditate dall’Ateneo veronese.
I crediti maturati in seguito ad attività di stage saranno attribuiti secondo quanto disposto nel dettaglio dal “Regolamento d’Ateneo per il riconoscimento dei crediti maturati negli stage universitari” vigente.
