Learning outcomes
This course aims at providing the students with competences in order to elaborate the reasons of philosophical research through the critical comparison with other cultural and search perspectives, in relation with one’s own tradition and with the different special philosophical themes. The main aim is to favour critical reasoning and the interpretation of the different types of knowledge beyond the limits of disciplinary specialization.
- Knowledge and understanding skills.
Critical analysis and understanding of philosophical concepts, supported by advanced textbooks. Ability to make explicit the main philosophical problems by devising and sustaining with reasons and evidence for accepting (or not) particular conclusions.
- Learning skills
Apply knowledge and understanding to philosophical inquiry.
- Autonomy in making judgements.
Gathering and interpreting relevant problems.
- Communication skills
Logical and exposition skills in multi-level communication: debate and panel discussion, philosophical writing samples, chat and forum.

Philosophical Analysis of Conscious Experience.
Main arguments: Consciousness and Brain; Neuroplasticity and Experience; Sensoriality and Perception; The extended Mind; Living Organism, human being and Environment: The Embodied Mind; Consciousness and Self-consciousness; Time experience and personal identity; Perception and Knowledge of Others; Genesis of social cognition.
Seminar on: "Philosophy and cognitive neuroscience".
Examination Methods
Entry test; intermediate proofs; final writing examination.
