Learning outcomes
Learning Objectives: The course aims to introduce students to the history of contemporary philosophy. At the end of the course the student must be able to demonstrate ability to learn and to have knowledge and understanding of the authors and the texts dealt with. No general part is expected, because this is already explained by the same professor in the History of Philosophy B.
Objectifs: Le cours vise à initier les étudiants à l'histoire de la philosophie contemporaine. A la fin du cours, l'étudiant(e) devra être en mesure de démontrer une bonne connaissance des thèmes et d’avoir bien compris les auteurs et les textes traités. Aucune partie générale n’est prévue.
Program
Reason to the test of madness
The course will examine some authors who have brought the effort of reason to the utmost of madness. The relationship between reason and madness will be investigated in Rousseau, Nietzsche, von Druskowitz and Bachmann.
The program includes: Commentary of Roussseau’s Fantasies. Reflection on Nietzsche's madness and commentary on Ecce Homo. Commentary on von Druskowitz. Commentary on Büchner's Lenz and Bachmann’s Eventual Place.
La raison à l’épreuve de la folie
Le cours examinera des auteurs qui ont mené l'effort de la raison à l'extrême de la folie. On étudiera la relation entre la raison et la folie dans Rousseau, Nietzsche, von Duskowitz et Bachmann. Le programme comprend: Commentaire des Rêveries du promeneur solitaire de Rousseau.Réflexion sur la folie de Nietzsche et commentaire de Ecce Homo. Commentaire du Propositions cardinal pessimiste de von Druskowitz. Commentaire du Lenz de Büchner et du Place éventuelle de Bachmann.

Examination Methods
Exam methods: oral. The purpose of the exam is to ensure knowledge and understanding of the topics dealt with and to evaluate the skills of comparison between the authors acquired by the students. The exam does not include differences between attending and non-attending students.
Examen: oral. L'examen aura pour but de vérifier la connaissance et la compréhension des thèmes abordés et d'évaluer la capacité comparative des étudiants. Il n’y a pas de différence entre les étudiants participants et les étudiants non-participants.
