Global History is a mainstream discipline in the international panorama.
Terms such as ‘Global History’, ‘Global Interactions’, ‘Connected Histories’ are part of the historiographical vocabulary. But: What are we speaking about when we speak about Global History?
What are the new methodological issues? What is the impact? On what kind of topics does it treat? What are the results?
How did they come to define Europe as the ‘periphery of the World’? Where should we place the ‘center’?
During our classes,
we will focus on conceptual and methodological issues
we will discuss important scientific essays devoted to Global History
we will analyze sources, database and case studies related to a large context, characterized by exchanges, relations, (successful and unsuccessful) negotiations, by forced and free migrations, by interracial mariages, by the circulation of goods and of cultures.
The course takes place in the first semester, starting from November.
Students are expected to attend classes regularly.
Non attending students are kindly asked to contact the Professor (serena.luzzi@unitn.it)
