Learning outcomes

The main objective of the course is to deepen the study of Italian literature with particular reference to a specific literary genre, which will be studied in the historical development of its forms by directly analyzing the work of authors particularly representative of that specific genre.
After the course, every student will have to:
-show to master the necessary prerequisites, that will be however recalled during the course and in special seminarial lectures (philological, metric, rhetorical, critic history notions; manualistic knowledge of the texts and of the fundamental lines of the Italian literary tradition from the Origins to the whole Novecento)
-have understood the notion of literary genre, with particular reference to the Italian literary tradition and to the narrative for youth
-know manualistically the Italian narrative for youth in 19th-20th Century
-know particularly life and works of Collodi, De Amicis, Salgari, Vamba, D'Arzo, Rodari
-know in detail the texts indicated in this program and be able to explain these with due critical maturity
-know the fundamental critical items related to the literary genre, the works and the authors indicated in this program
-be able to identify and critically argue the relationships between the narrative for youth and the coeval Italian narrative
